The reigning WGC-Cadillac champion is securing the lead for third straight week with his 18 successful holes. On the green, Johnson hit 66 (-6) thanks to two birdies at 10 and at 11, coupled by an eagle at 16. As for 2015 Memorial Tournament title holder David Lingmerth, he rounded out the first round of the championship with 29 (-7) points behind Dustin Johnson for 6 birdies. He now totals 69 (-3).
2015 Whistling Straits champ “Martin Kaymer”, for his part, finished 15th (-2). A certain number of high-profile title contenders failed to shine in the race. Include the likes of Jordan Spieth and Rory Mc Ilroy (24th). Both men hit 71 (-1) each.
